Welsh Traditional Craftspeople

Tucked away in many workshops, studios, stables, garages, sheds at the bottom of gardens and anonymous industrial units, most out of public sight, are many individuals carrying on traditional crafts and using skills that have been developed and refined for many generations.

These individuals, almost by definition and by the fact that they understand that they are working in a craft that has a rich and important history, are utterly dedicated, enthusiastic about their craft, and in many cases determined to unselfishly pass their skills on to others.I photographed these people  in their working environments with a large format 10" x 8" camera as a way of concentrating on the individual and to celebrate their individual  integrity and dedication to their craft. This is an ongoing project.
